Village Apartment Rental
For almost ten years we rented our apartment in the village of Lourmarin to vacationers, usually reserving about a month for ourselves each summer. A few years ago we decided to sell it so that our own travel plans could be more flexible, but luckily the owners of the apartment above ours, Jim and Linda O'Neill from Scotland, bought our place and continue to rent to vacationers by the week just as we had done. Up one level from the street, the apartment is small but comfortable. Its main room is long and thin, with the kitchen at one end and French windows at the other end overlooking the street below. It has a small fireplace, comfortable chairs and a couch, and a round dining table just in front of the French doors. One bedroom is in the back of the apartment, beyond the kitchen and bathroom; the other is in the front, in a curtained alcove off the main room. The bed in the front bedroom is on a platform about five steps up from floor level, and is about four inches narrower than a standard American double bed. The bed in the back bedroom is a few inches wider than an American double bed. There are plenty of linens. The kitchen has a stove, oven, refrigerator and sink, and is well stocked with utensils and dishes. The bathroom has a tiled shower. After each renter leaves, the apartment is cleaned, linens are washed, and beds made up. Guests are asked not to smoke in the apartment. There is one parking space in front of the apartment and there are several small village lots just two or three minutes' walk away. The village of Lourmarin is lively, with three cafes and a number of bistros, restaurants, and galleries, as well as one of the finest Renaissance chateaux in the region. Outside the village in all directions are small back roads that wind for miles through vineyards, fields, and orchards. Officially designated "one of the most beautiful villages in France," Lourmarin is located at the foot of the southern slope of the Luberon, within easy driving distance of the hilltowns and picturesque villages that dot the Luberon mountain range. To learn more about the Luberon and to see a map, go to "The Luberon: an Overview" section of this website. For more information or to make reservations see Jim and Linda O'Neill's website at www.apartmentsprovence.com. When taking reservations, they ask for one half the total rental amount to secure the booking. Rental rates include the costs of linens, utilities, cleaning, etc. If you're traveling in a party that needs more space,

and Lodging" section of our website. |
