Getting ThereOne good way to get to the Luberon is to fly to Paris and then take the fast train (the TGV) south to Avignon or Aix, depending on your final destination in the Luberon. There is a train station right at the Charles de Gaulle airport so it is easy to switch from plane to train. Make sure to book your train tickets from the airport and not from one of the stations in central Paris. The train cars are comfortable and the trip takes less than three hours. Car rentals are available at both the Avignon and the Aix train stations. It's about an hour's drive (or less) from either Avignon or Aix to most points in the Luberon, Alternatively, you can take a plane from Paris to Marseilles, where you can rent a car for the one-hour drive to the Luberon. You can also fly directly to Nice. The drive from Nice to the Luberon takes about three hours on the high speed autoroute. This is stressful, especially if you have just arrived in France. A better plan would perhaps be to stay in the Nice area for one night and then make the drive the next day on some back roads. To continue with Travel and Lodging Information: |
