Byways is a guide service run by Bob and Sue Winn. Our
base is the lovely village of Lourmarin in the beautiful
Luberon region of Provence. We offer a guidebook on a variety of topics of interest to travelers in Provence, and suggestions for lodgings in the region. Our aim is to help people make the most of their time in Provence by offering tips, insights, and custom itineraries through the guidebook and a comfortable and well-located accommodation with our lodging suggestions. This web site provides a sample of what we have to offer, as well as specific information about our guidebook.. As part-time residents of Lourmarin since 1990, we have driven the back roads and hiked the trails of the Luberon in all seasons, researched the history and geography of Provence, and indulged in its food and wine. When we're not in Lourmarin, we live in the countryside in western Oregon, having recently retired and moved from the Mendocino Coast in California, where Bob was an English and history professor at a community college and Sue directed plays for a small theater company and operas for a summer music festival. We love to introduce people to "our" Provence and to tell the stories behind its irresistible landscape.
